What People are Saying About Us

I've collected various things that readers have written about us, and figured it was time to post some of the better ones:

"Again, my sincere thanks for all of the time, energy and effort you as well as others have devoted to trying to make drilling as safe as possible in Lewisville. " - V.B., Lewisville, 10/2/2010

"You are not a journalist and I think you are a very bad person. " - John Gorena, 5/7/2011

"Southwell is keeping an eye on government in the Dallas/Fort Worth suburb of Lewisville, Texas and serving the public trust in ways that today’s “real” journalists don’t. He is a textbook example (if there are any) of what it means to be a “citizen journalist,” and he could show those who have the invisible badge a thing or two." - Terry Heaton, PoMo Blog, 10/15/2010

"Take a good, long look at that website, and they traffic in some vile and filthy left wing stuff." - "USAFreedom3" 5/5/2010

"Lewisville's most prominent left leaning writer, Stephen Southwell, was there, and I was surprised to learn that, even though he's a radical liberal, he has a pretty nice voice. " - Winston Edmondson, SocialPoint Network, 6/2009

"Whosplayin.com has a three-month global Alexa traffic rank of 2,323,951. The site's visitors view an average of 2.2 unique pages per day. The time spent in a typical visit to the site is about two minutes, with 51 seconds spent on each pageview. The site has a bounce rate of roughly 43% (i.e., 43% of visits consist of only one pageview). Search engines refer roughly 11% of visits to Whosplayin.com." - Alexa.com, 5/7/2011

"By the way, it was well written and you have talent." - Karen Permetti, 10/14/2009

"While we did not specifically say "no audio recording", a little common courtesy sometimes goes a long way. This borders dishonesty and is disrespectful. I do appreciate the effort you give to our community and have always told you so. Guess I am a little disappointed this time." - Brenda Latham, 4/27/2011

"Thanks again, for everything that you do for our organization, our community, and our environment. You are a true blue volunteer superstar!" - Amy Wells, Keep Lewisville Beautiful, 1/24/2011

"We'd like to get with you about a press release announcing you as an Honorary Chairman of our Business Advisory Council." - National Republican Campaign Committee, 3/13/2007

"You may have already won $10,000,000" - Ed McMahon

"Thank God for Stephen Southwell and his Who's Playin site!" - Marsha Thompson, Lewisville, 5/17/2011

"I think Steve works harder for the civic good with no compensation than anyone I have ever known. I check your "Thanks!" and raise you a "Bravo!!!" - Ken Judkins, Lewisville, 10/31/2011

"Personally, I think Steve does a better job covering local topics/politics/news stories than our local journalists do. And I don't even have the same political beliefs as he does!" - Anonymous, 11/6/2011

"Its easy to win. Just have enough campaign money or hobnob with some rich folks who are willing to fund it for you, hang around City Hall and get to know all of the staff and kiss their butts, be in the social politico crowd over at Tierneys and have Steve as your publicity endorsement person via this blog. This and a little help from Mr. "Dale Carnegie" himself and one is certain to get elected....." - Anonymous 11/11/11

LMAO!
Hey Steve, We were out to dinner the other night, and were wondering why the hell waiters and waitress' do NOT take the trash ie; used napkins, plates you do not need, paper from straws...while you are still trying to enjoy the rest of your meal?! I mean REALLY! If your not eating at a high end establishment, they just don't give a rats @$$ how much crap acumulates on your table! LOL What is that?! Could you investigate that one for us? LOL
Seriously, like I've stated before; We don't always see eye to eye, but I think you do great things for the community!

hmm... I've never noticed this before - but then again I usually dine at places where my meals come with a toy surprise and that require me to bus my own table...

Right?! LOL
I would name some places, but in all fairness, my issue might "just be me"
Doubtful, but you never know! I find that most if not all places, have the same standards for not cleaning your table off during your meal. Even if you put it in a nice obvious spot at the end of the table...trying to make room for your plates that will be coming...
Just trying to add some humor to the daily seriousness

Funny, my Grandmother drilled into me that it's the height of rudeness to clear anyone's place setting until everyone is done. That little factoid is also in Emily Post.

To this day I confuse the snot out of waitstaff by asking for my empty plate to stay while others are still eating.

As for the bits of paper- yeah... what's up with that?

Ever been to one of those fancy steakhouses where they have the linen tablecloths, and the waiters come out and scrape the crumbs off your table with those long blades? That always seemed a little over the top to me, but I suppose better than bringing out the DustBuster vac.

Re: What People are Saying About Us
I think your most flattering quote comes from John Gorena, since any level-headed person will believe the opposite of anything he says.

"You are a journalist and I think you are a very good person." -- Gorena's quote, with the crazy filtered out.

All it would take is a quote from him saying "the sky is blue" for me to be 100% convinced that I have been wrong about the color of the sky for my whole life.

OMG Steve,

You are the 2011 Recipient of the Gorena VBP AWARD! You never told us! When was the award banquet? Hell, this is better than the "Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval"and a Bubba jug from Bubba Dub all rolled into one!! Was it bestowed in person by The Great Gorena????

So tell the truth. Did Gorena offer to personally spank you while telling you what a bad boy you were?

Just curious.
