Well this Google + Profile for Miller says he's the head coach at LHS, but it's entirely possible that's fake. Then again, I'm not sure why anyone would waste their time on creating a fake one.

From what I read, Katy's offense is a run-first, no-frills style, which should please the old-timers at LHS if Miller wants to use it. The last time Lewisville had any success, it was a (er, the) triple option team, with one of the strangest state championship games ever:

Loud video, by the way. The score ended up 58-34. Oh, and they didn't pass once.

Yes Dane Johnson will be the Head Coach for Flower Mound High School and Gregg Miller will be the head Coach of Lewisville High School. Both communities are very happy to have both of them.

Indeed, the audience at the board meeting seemed quite happy with both choices.

The News Connection already has a good story posted about these two new coaches.

Surprise, surprise. After assuring everyone that he wanted to move to Lewisville, be a part of our city and community, and send his children to Lewisville High School feeder schools, it looks like the new head football coach at LHS has chosen to buy a house in Flower Mound. So much for the support he got from me. Hey, Coach, why don't you give your six figure job to someone who believes in our schools? (Note: a search of property records revealed that a modest home in Flower Mound was recently purchased by Gregg and Mary Miller, it is possible that there is another Gregg/Mary Miller, but it is unlikely). There were plenty of homes on the market in the same price range in Lewisville, yet I guess those weren't good enough. I'd love to hear how Coach Miller will proclaim Farmer Pride so loudly when he didn't even want to buy a house here. At this point, I couldn't care less whether he does well or not. I wish he would just go back to Katy.

I would like to follow up on this and hope it's not true. His big stand was to be a part of the Lewisville community and live among his players and fans. Lewisville has many houses better than the one he purchased for the same price. How disappointing. Now community will question why? What a slap.

You folks kill me! What a narrow, provincial attitude! In a MAJOR school district, staff will live ALL over. Would not it be better to focus on bringing in quality staff, like Miller, and not worry about where they live? Who cares? I want performers, not posers who live on a certain street. You guys sound like you live in 2 A!

You pegged it! He lives in the school district, isn't that enough? Better to me to drive in from FM and be able to talk about something other than football with my neighbors than to live amongst the rabid Farmer Pride folks that will turn on him when he loses.

No, it's not enough. That's my opinion, and you are welcomed to have yours. When a school needs a strong vote of confidence, and the new athletic director is moving from far away to take the job, it would have been much better for him to move into the LHS attendance zone. I hope, for the kids' sake, that the team does well, but I really don't care at all about the coach anymore. I heard he wanted to live here, but it looks like he didn't even give this city a chance. How sad.

If the comment that rabid Farmer fans will turn on him when he loses was intended to defend Coach Olin, I think the problems with him started before he ever coached a game here. His record before he came here and while he coached at LHS just added to the feeling that he never should have been hired at LHS.

It November 9th,2012. Has anyone looked at his record this year? Sounds like a few of the comments were dead on. Just an observation.

 Re: It's official
Your "observation" is that the team's lack of success this year is somehow magically due to the new coach's residence in another city.

This team went 2-8, 2-8, 3-7, and 2-8 in the past four years.

By the way, my track coach at Lewisville (who also coached football during Gage's successful run) didn't live in the city until after he had worked at LHS for over 15 years. He ate, slept, and breathed this school like none of you would ever understand, and he was also one of the most successful coaches at LHS.

The idea that a school should limit its hiring pool to only people who live or will live within its district is patently absurd. This isn't a "that's your opinion and this is mine" sort of thing. It's a "your opinion is objectively wrong" kind of thing.

 Re: It's official
I did not write the comment about the coach's record as of last night. I heard great things about him. I still wish he would have moved here, but the kids are happy with him and they are definitely a better team than they were before. Except for one or two games, all the games were exciting and the Farmers were in it until the end. I think Miller has been good for them.

Brandon, someone else's opinion is not "wrong" just because you disagree with it. You don't know Coach Miller and you don't know how other people feel about his chosen city of residence. Others can feel whatever they want and you can disagree. That doesn't make what they feel wrong unless you know specific facts about the situation that they don't know. You remind me of a guy I used to work with. He truly believed everyone who disagreed with him was an idiot (sort of like your "patently absurd"). If we are going to try to get others to be tolerant in their attitudes (like when a Coach chooses to live in the suburb next door), then maybe we should show more tolerance when our opinions are at odds.

 Re: It's official
I know that BC can take care of himself but I feel compelled to jump in here for one reason and one reason only. You state that it is your OPINION that the coach shouldn't live in a different city than where he coaches but you want BC to present FACTS to back up his OPINION. Opinions on either side are just that...OPINIONS. Opinions are subjective and not necessarily based on facts although BC has first hand experience with his track coach living outside of Lewisville and still being a winning coach. No one is going to win here and the opinions of some Farmer parents aren't going to change where the coach lives...just agree to disagree and move on.
