Lewisville Texan Journal Editors and Writers
Steve Southwell (WhosPlayin) is the Editor-in-chief, and currently the writer of most of the news stories published in the Lewisville Texan Journal. Southwell writes opinion pieces from a "pragmatic progressive" point of view in The Editor's Column, but works to keep it objective on original coverage of local news and events. Born and raised in Waco, Texas, Southwell attended the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science in Denton. After spending time in the U.S. Marine Corps, rising to the rank of Sergeant, he obtained a BBA from the University of North Texas. By day, Southwell is an information technology consultant specializing in web applications. When he's not on the road, working for a client, Steve lives in Lewisville with his wife Jennifer (Fluffy) and two sons. His hobbies are playing guitar, drinking beer, singing karaoke, writing, and shooting - though not all at once.
Brandon Cooper (Runfellow) is an Associate Editor, who not only writes his column, Parallel Development, but also writes the occasional news story and political commentary. Brandon has his own blog at bcfeed.com. Brandon lives in Lewisville, where he works as a track coach. At the end of his senior year at Lewisville High School, Brandon ran for Mayor of Lewisville against Mayor Gene Carey, who went on to be Lewisville's longest serving mayor. Brandon continues to follow local Lewisville issues with keen interest. Brandon graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Radio, Television, and Film.
Jennifer Southwell (Mamask8z - A.K.A. "Fluffy") is an Associate Editor, occasionally writing columns, but quite often working to keep your Editor honest and fair. Jennifer is the best Licensed Massage Therapist in Lewisville with her own studio in the same office building as the Lewisville Texan Journal's headquarters. Raised in Lewisville, and Pilot Point, Jennifer earned a Bachelor's in Business Administration from the University of North Texas. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Keep Lewisville Beautiful. Jennifer's hobbies are running, and flat track roller derby, which she writes about from time to time. She is married to Steve (WhosPlayin) and has two sons attending Lewisville schools.
Ken Judkins is a long-time Lewisville resident and observer of local politics who writes the column "The Flip Side Revisited". Ken and his wife Barbara have two grown children. Ken enjoys good beer, good music, and progressive politics. Ken works in technology, and commutes to Fort Worth every day.
Raymond Daniels is a Lewisville resident who works as a service manager for a family-run HVAC and plumbing business. In Spring of 2013, Daniels ran for Lewisville City Council. Although he didn't win that race, he wanted to stay involved in local issues, so he has joined LTJ to help us cover the Lewisville City Council. Daniels recently served as a precinct chairman for the Denton County Republican Party.
Doug Lane is a Lewisville resident, attending the University of North Texas, where he studies literature. Lane graduated from Lewisville High School, where he wrote movie reviews for the Farmers Harvest. Lane currently writes movie and video game reviews for the Lewisville Texan Journal when he can.
Nick Weaver is a photographer from Lewisville who graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2014. Although he focuses on the more artistic aspects of photography, including portraits, he is helping us out as a photojournalist for us.
