Some DCTA A-train runs seem to be way under water on paying for themselves. WFAA says each one-way run of the train costs $2,000, but I have a hard time believing that's the marginal cost for labor and fuel for an extra run. That's got to include some depreciation and overhead allocation. I've reached out to DCTA for clarification, but haven't heard back. Police Chief's weekly update
The City of Plano is taking heat for lending its name to a Service Line Warranty Program, which is private insurance negotiated by a city for residents to cover their water and sewer lines for emergency repairs. Lewisville is considering a program like this - not for revenue purposes, but to offload its current expensive service of cleaning customers' service lines when they clog. The City would negotiate a favorable rate for its residents in exchange for promoting the program. The private company would do the billing and use local plumbers to provide the service. It was discussed in the February City Council retreat.
