Early Sunday morning, Lewisville police responded to a shots fired call in the Village North Mobile Home Park, at 1240 North Cowan. Officers arrived at 1:11 a.m., and found 26 year-old Jacob Guiterrez dead from multiple gunshot wounds in the front yard.

Lewisville Police currently have 56 year-old Humberto Jesus Martinez-Benitez in custody for murder. He is also held on an ICE (immigration) detainer. Police say that Martinez-Benitez is an older cousin of the victim, and that the altercation started as a family disagreement, and ended with Martinez-Benitez pulling a pistol and firing several shots at Guiterrez. The 911 caller that reported the incident reportedly said there were 6-7 shots fired. Numerous family were on the scene at the time. Next-of-kin has been notified, and Guiterrez's body has been sent to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner for autopsy.
An archive of radio recordings from the time period can be found here, but the majority of the conversation took place on a channel we do not record for privacy reasons.
Update 11/19 - 8:57 a.m.: Martinez-Benitez is now being held on $500,000 bond.
This makes the third murder in Lewisville for 2012. There were two other murders in Lewisville this year: One in March, and one in August.
