Enjoying the rain yet? The kids and I played in the rain today at Western days. We left just before it started pouring cats and dogs. By the way, can anyone tell me where that expression came from. I really don't know.

Preliminary rainfall totals in Old town for the past 24 hours came to 1.27 inches. Lamar Middle school picked up 1.52 inches.

The image to the right is a projected image from the HRRR model... I call it a tease. If it comes into the actual picture tonight, it will be a good opportunity for me to get some good photos of lightning. We won't see anything like this until later week... maybe.
As I'm writing this post, a meso scale discussion has been posted for the projected area. It states that isolated thunderstorm activity expected over the next few hours. Maybe I will go lightning chasing tonight. We'll see.

Monday's relative humidity will fall into the 20s and winds will be out of the south at 10-20 mph Avoid burning, welding and definitely throwing cigarette butts out of the car windows as this will most likely start a wild fire. Fall officially began this morning at 9:45. Sure doesn't feel like Fall but I will take the mid 90s over the 100s any day. I still see rain and thunderstorms in our future. It's still a week out and ya'll know how Texas weather can change in an instant.
As for the rest of this weekend; "A front that extended across Southern Oklahoma late this afternoon will drift south tonight. This front will stall across the northern part of North Texas around daybreak and then lift back to the north. Highs will be in the upper 80s northeast and low to mid 90s elsewhere. Winds will become east or northeast behind the front and will be south to southwest south of the front." US National Weather Service Fort Worth Texas

Today is the last day of Summer.I don't think we could ask for better weather. Some sources are saying that the beginning of October could get interesting with some thunderstorm activity. So stay tuned for updates.
